It Starts With an Ache
Dear Friend,
Hi! Welcome. This is my first letter so I thought I’d start by introducing myself and a tiny bit about my journey.
I may not know you personally but if you’ve got an ache inside you – a feeling like there is something more you’re supposed to be doing, or something just feels off in your life, or you want to believe there is something more for you but don’t know how to figure out what that is; then I know you. I am you. I’ve been all of those things.
About 7 years ago I moved from Chicago to Los Angeles to follow that ache. I had worked for 10 years in the corporate world and during that time began to feel the ache like there was “something more”. I didn’t know exactly what that feeling was but it led me down the path of seeking. It began as spiritual seeking which eventually led me to completing a year long life coaching program. During that year many things shifted in my life – not only was my marriage ending but I began to contemplate making bigger moves – like starting a business and moving across the country. The work I had been doing was not feeling aligned with where my life was going. The most important thing that happened that year was that I learned to listen to my inner wisdom. Up until this time I didn’t know I had an “inner voice”. I had followed what the world told me to do for a “happy and successful” life and yet at that time my life was feeling so far from that that I began to question it all.
When I moved to LA I made a promise to myself – to follow and trust this inner voice no matter what. I decided that maybe this voice knows what it’s talking about because the direction it leads me in, while not always easy, has led to some pretty powerful personal growth and dreams that I didn’t even realize I had coming true.
What I understand now is this journey is not unique to me. People have been listening to the longings of their heart and taking this journey for ages.
Everyone’s outer journey will look different but the inner journey can be surprisingly similar…learning things like courage, trust, working thru failure, having unshakeable faith, and listening to your inner wise voice – these are all universal lessons.
So while I may not know you personally, I know that you too have this wisdom within you and a journey to take for yourself.
These letters will remind you over & over that there is purpose on your life and you learn what that is by listening to your inner voice.
But oftentimes this journey starts with an ache.
An ache saying that something is off and needs to change.
The ache is not bad, the ache is guidance.
What we do with the ache is the important thing.
This is where inner wisdom comes in.
We learn to consult ourselves, not the world about what is going on inside us.
We learn that nothing outside of us can know what is best for us.
We learn to trust the ache, embrace the voice, and take the journey.
My deepest hope is that when you’re ready you’ll start to listen to that ache and these letters will help guide your way.
I’m so happy you’re here.
Love,
Laura
